The Real Neural Network of BIOSPARK

Biospark Medical and AI Research Institute is run by the people who build the science, the infrastructure, and the operating discipline. This is that roster.

The Institute is not a brochure. It is a group of people who treat continuous medical intelligence as a field that has to be staffed: research, clinical judgment, manufacturing, and the unglamorous work of making a system run. This page is that roster.

Kevin A. Courville, MD, FACC, FHFSA

Founder

Redefining the future of medicine through AI and infrastructure.

In an era where medicine is converging with artificial intelligence, Dr. Kevin A. Courville works at that intersection. He is a board-certified cardiologist with subspecialty expertise in Advanced Heart Failure and Transplantation, Interventional Cardiology, Cardiovascular Diseases, and Nuclear Cardiology. His career has been treating complex cardiovascular disease and reimagining how illness of every kind is managed at scale.

As Founder and CEO of Pulsario Enterprise Holdings, Inc., the commercial platform affiliated with the Institute, he has built a cardiovascular intelligence operating system: biosensor technology joined to AI-driven clinical intelligence. At the core is the Pulsario Remote Heart Management platform and the BioChest wearable, a multi-signal biosensor for continuous physiology, a near-real-time cardiovascular digital twin, and computer-assisted therapeutics. The work is a shift from reactive treatment to proactive, precision-guided intervention. Pulsario is the commercial product. The Institute is the science.

Beyond the platform, Dr. Courville is leading the Biospark Medical and AI Innovation Campus, an integrated ecosystem for medical device manufacturing, artificial intelligence development, and clinical research. The campus is a bet that Louisiana can be a national hub for healthcare innovation: economic growth tied to the commercialization of medical technology, and a place where communicable and non-communicable intelligence can be built for a clinic, a hospital system, or a country.

He has contributed to numerous clinical trials, published on computer-assisted therapeutics and heart failure management, and served in hospital leadership across finance, quality, and strategic planning. He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and the Heart Failure Society of America, and speaks internationally on AI-enabled medicine and scalable care. In 2018, Prevail Holdings, Inc. was named among the Top 50 Healthcare Companies by IFAH in Las Vegas. In 2026 he received the Atal Samman Samaroh Award for Excellence in Innovative Healthcare, presented in New Delhi, India (21 January 2026, Bharat Mandapam; Topnotch Foundation).

His thesis is singular: the next frontier of healthcare is the integration of data, intelligence, and infrastructure. Through the Institute and Pulsario, that is the work.

Alfio Quarteroni

Scientific Advisor

Mathematics that can model a living system.

Alfio Quarteroni is an Italian mathematician, Professor Emeritus at Politecnico di Milano and at EPFL (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Lausanne). He was born 30 May 1952, educated at the University of Pavia, and wrote his 1975 doctorate on numerical analysis of biharmonic operators under Franco Brezzi. He directed the Chair of Modelling and Scientific Computing at EPFL from 1998 to 2017, founded MOX at Politecnico di Milano in 2002 (and directed it through 2022), founded MATHICSE at EPFL in 2010, and is co-founder and president of the Politecnico spin-off MOXOFF.

His field is mathematical modelling, numerical analysis, scientific computing, and scientific machine learning, applied to fluid mechanics, the environment, geophysics, medicine, and sport. Two ERC Advanced Grants mark the medical line: MATHCARD (2008) and iHEART (2017), on the mathematics of the heart. His EPFL group contributed to the preliminary design of Solar Impulse and to the performance simulation of Alinghi, winner of the America's Cup in 2003 and 2007. He has written more than twenty books and about 400 papers, and has directed more than sixty doctoral students.

He is a member of the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei, the European Academy of Sciences, Academia Europaea, and the Lisbon Academy of Sciences, and a SIAM and IACM Fellow. Recent honors include the ICIAM Lagrange Prize (2023), the Blaise Pascal Medal in Mathematics (2024), and, in July 2026, the IACM Gauss–Newton Medal, the highest award of the International Association for Computational Mechanics, presented in Munich at WCCM–ECCOMAS.

That medal names the synergy the Institute depends on: mathematics, numerical analysis, and the modelling of physical events. Professor Quarteroni's counsel is why a patient-specific computational model of physiology is treated here as field science, not as a slogan.

Enrico Negrello

Advisor, Engineering and Manufacturing

The hardware has to exist, not on a slide.

Enrico Negrello is an Italian engineer and manufacturer. He is President and CEO of Pertech Industries, Inc., which he has led since 2012. Pertech's manufacturing line dates to 1971: custom scanners, inkjet, impact, and thermal printers for banking, gaming, money-order, and kiosk markets, plus depot repair and electronics contract manufacturing. Negrello bought the company after running a printers-and-scanners business in Italy. His path ran through Olivetti.

The same shop now builds the Institute's chest hardware. In 2022 he founded the medical arm of Pertech to develop medical devices. He is the inventor on U.S. Patent 12,178,585 (multi-sensor method), assigned to Pertech Industries. An automotive ECG project for passenger stress, he has said, is what pointed him at a medical chest patch.

The BioChest wearable is continuous physiology from that shop. The Institute's 2026 performance research is the next chapter of that hardware. Negrello is the person who makes the sensing real, with the discipline and experience of a business that has a proven worldwide track record of exceptional delivery.
